Welcome to this week’s pregnancy update – 29 weeks. I have only 10 weeks and 6 days left.
How far along? 29 weeks and 1 days
Due date? 7th May 2017
How is baby doing? Baby is 15.2 inches long and weighs 1,153 grams. She is the size of a pumpkin and weighs about 2 and ½ pounds. Baby’s brain is in charge of maintaining body temperature and also controls breathing. Baby’s irises can now respond to light by dilating and contracting. All the internal organs are maturing and preparing to function on their own after birth. Baby’s skin is beginning to look less wrinkly and more like it will look at birth.
The extra fat under the skin will help to regulate baby’s body temperature at birth. Baby girl’s head is now much more proportionate to the rest of the body. Baby is bursting with energy at this point, don’t I know it! I am feeling every bit of it.
Maternity clothes: Maternity tights or leggings are an everyday staple. I am literally wearing black leggings every day.
Stretch marks: No stretch marks yet although I am definitely bigger than I was last time round so we shall see. I have also run out of body butter so I am off the repurchase some at lunch time.
Sleep: Sleep was terrible last night I seemed to wake every few hours and I even had to get out to use the loo. Baby doesn’t like being lied on. She is not happy when I lie on my side and I can feel her bashing into the mattress.
Best moment this week: Nick will be home and I am looking forward to getting back into our routine.
Miss anything? Not really. Just being comfortable I guess and able to breathe!
Movement: Lots of movement. I think 2nd time round there is a lot more space for baby so you can feel the movements a lot more.
Gender: It’s a Girl.
Labour signs: No. No tightening’s or anything.
Symptoms: This week my blood test results from my midwife appointment showed I was slightly anaemic so I have been prescribed iron tablets to help with that. I am hoping that this will explain why I have felt so tired and that when they start to take effect I might perk up a little. Still slow. I am finding it harder to get in and out of bed, and to get dressed in the mornings. My back is also starting to ache. If I get up too quickly I am getting sharp stabbing pains in my lower back.
Anything making you queasy or sick? No.
Belly button in or out? OUT
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: I still feel quite sad. I am hoping when the iron tablets take effect I will start to feel more myself.
How I feel? In a way I am relieved that I am slightly anaemic as I am hoping that might explain why I have been feeling so tired and unable to cope. However, I also feel incredibly guilty that I have to take tablets. I hate the idea that baby girl is being pumped full of drugs before she is even born. I havn’t taken my pregnancare supplements for a while as they were making me sick, I can’t help but think if I was still taking them I might not need the iron tablets. We also havn’t been eating as well as we normally would. We still eat fairly healthily but when I was pregnant with Rosalie Nick was in training for competitions and so we pretty much ate vegetables and meat every night. I feel like I have let her down before she has even been born.
Looking forward to: getting stuff done! It will be horrible whilst we do them. We need to paint bedrooms and get carpets cleaned and I still need to reorganise all me photos which is taking forever!! There must be an easier way but it is a long slow process.
