It’s Rosalie’s 3rd Birthday Party in less than a week’s time. Eeek! As if I nearly have a 3 year old. I have been planning her birthday party for months. Party planning is something I LOVE. Rosalie chose a Little Mermaid theme and I have run with it. I readily admit I have gone totally overboard. it’s going to be EPIC! I thought I’d share with you how I planned her party to give you some ideas if you are planning a little mermaid themed celebration.
VENUE
First you need to decide on your venue. I decided to have Rosalie’s party at home to keep costs down and because I would have more control over the decor. My house is very white so it is a great back drop for all the decorating I wanted to do. Your choice of venue may be dependent on when you are having your party and the number of guests you want to invite, Once you’ve decided on your venue you will need to book it if necessary.
INVITATIONS
You then need to create a guest list and send out invitations to all of your guests. I used the party planning tool on the Disney Party to website to create Rosalie’s little mermaid invitations. They look fabulous and were so easy to create. The party planner then generates a guest list for you, so you can tick off when you receive an RSVP from each guest to keep track of who is coming.
THEME
Once you have decided on your party theme you need to start thinking about ordering party supplies. I have been gathering bits and pieces for Rosalie’s party for months. My favourite places to shop for party supplies are the Disney Store where you can search by theme, Ebay and Party Delights. I have filmed a ‘Little Mermaid Party Decor Haul’ over on my youtube channel so you can see where I bought all my party supplies from.
PARTY MENU
You now need to plan your party food and drink. I have spent many an hour stalking pinterest for ‘under the sea’ themed food ideas and I found so much inspiration. You can take a look at my Mermaid Party Ideas pinterest board. I plan to make star shaped sandwichs, seaweed wraps, sea foam popcorn, wafer clams, grape seaweed skewers and lots more delicious treats.
You will need to decide whether you are going to bake a birthday cake yourself or arrange to have one made. I have decided to bake Rosalie’s birthday cake myself with the help of my Nana so we will make this the day before her party.
ENTERTAINMENT
You now need to make a plan for the day and decide which games and activities you want to play. This will be largely dependent on what age your guests are. You could hire a disco, or bouncy castle. We are having a garden party for 3 year olds. I plan to set up a tent and tunnel in the garden with soft play balls. I also have a number of games planned. These include; Pin the tail on the donkey, Under the sea fishing, Tiara making and Pass the parcel.
FAVOURS
I will be making up a little party bag for each of my guests to take home. I have chosen to fill mine with items from the The Little Mermaid party gift value pack from Disney Party so that most of the hard work is already done. I am also going to include some bubbles, a packet of sweets and some chocolate.
That’s it! As you party draws nearer I would confirm any entertainers, face painters, or bouncy castle hire. The it’s time to decorate your venue and make up your party bags.
You are all set for the most amazing The Little Mermaid themed Party EVER!
