Today I am going to talk to you about our day in Barcelona. This was our second day in port, you can take a look at our first port day in Gibraltar here.
How I love you. I think this was my favourite day on our cruise holiday and I can’t wait to go back.
Barcelona has everything you could want in a city, Beach, beautiful buildings, gorgeous restaurants and a wonderful atmosphere. We obviously didn’t sample the night life but I have heard good things about that too!
We had planned beforehand to do a bike tour around Barcelona, we made all the reservations whilst we were still on the boat. So as soon as we hit land we strapped our toddler to our back and hot footed it to Baja Bikes. I cannot recommend this tour company enough. It’s situated in Barcelona’s old town. We took note of the address and got a taxi from the port to the bike place. We were early so we enjoyed a lovely walk around the old town before we started the tour. I sampled the very best hot chocolate Ive ever had in my life at an eco café a few streets a way. I can’t put into words how good it was, it was out of this world!!!
Our guide was lovely, her English was excellent and she was so knowledgeable. The tour was 3 hours long with a short break in the middle. This was perfect for our toddlers. We got to see all the main sights and our guide even allowed us a little detour to see a street entertainer blowing bubbles which the girls loved.
Rosalie loved riding around on the bike. She got a little bit restless on some of the longer stops when she wanted to get out but for the most part she was as good as gold. If you do a similar activity with a toddler I recommend taking lots of snacks to give your little one as you go round, Rosalie was happy when she was eating.
Here are some photos I snapped whilst cycling around the city…
I vlogged a little of our bike tour and you can find snippets of it in our Cruise Holiday Vlog over on my youtube channel. I hope you enjoyed seeing what we loved about Barcelona.
