Hair Care for Shorter Hair

If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know I recently went in for the chop. My hair went from being half way down my back to being chin length. It was a real change, and one I struggled to get used to at first.

I am a very lazy girl when it comes to hair, and my hair is very thick with a tendency to go frizzy. My usual hair routine consisted of letting my hair dry naturally before ‘Zush-ing’ it with a bit of dry shampoo before I walked out the door. I can’t do that anymore so I am forced to style it. I thought I’d show you the hair products I’m using that make styling my mane of hair a little easier and quicker (every second counts when I have to get both babe and mama ready before work!)

Here are my short hair must haves…
Loreal elvive nutri-gloss shine shampoo and conditioner; This was a recommendation for my hairdresser. For a while I used the Lush Big Shampoo every week on my locks. This Salt shampoo should not be used regularly. It left me with dry crispy hair that needed some nourishment.
Since having all my split ends cut off I have continued to use this shampoo and conditioner duo and I have noticed a real difference in the condition of my hair. It feels soft and looks super shiny.
Aussie Miracle Recharge lightweight conditioning spray; I am an oily person who gets greasy hair. I used to think that if I didn’t use conditioner on my hair that it would stay fresher for longer. I have realised in my 27th year that it doesn’t make any difference to the length of time I can go between washes. Conditioner just makes my hair look less frizzy once styled. Conditioner is our friend, even for us oily gals!
Sebastian Potion 9 wearable styling treatment; I am not 100% sure what this stuff is. It has the texture of a serum and thats how I use it. I usually straighten my hair after every wash and use a teeny tiny bit of this styling treatment once I have styled it. I find this gets rid of any fly away hairs and helps my hair stay straight for longer. I use literally the smallest slither known to man. I rub my hands together and lightly smooth it over my hair. You really don’t want to add too much of this stuff. A little goes a long way!
Batiste XXL volume dry shampoo; I still can’t give it up! I’m not using dry shampoo every day like I did before but I do use it when I am two or three days in and my hair needs a wash but I really can’t be bothered to. I find this gives me an extra day and quite frankly I couldn’t be without it.Bumble and bumble surf spray; I use this on the days I am not straightening my hair. I will let my hair dry naturally and then give it a spritz with this spray before scrunching it in to my hair for effortless, windswept, just got out of bed (I wish!) waves.

Although having my hair in a shorter style is a little more hassle by using these products I am finding it manageable. I find it takes me only 15 minutes to straighten my hair in the morning, and only 2 mins to run the straighteners over on days when I havn’t washed my hair. For thick hair like mine this is a miracle and I truly believe it’s down to these products. Despite straightening my hair every day. My hair still feels in much better conditioner than it did before. It’s glossy and shiny and I still get compliments on it.
Have you tried any of these products?

They are great if you have really thick hair that needs taming. I'm already thinking should I grow it back…

I tried dry shampoo for the first time a few months back. My hair hadn't been washed for a couple of days and i found the dry shampoo did nothing to it all so I was gutted. I have heard so many good stories about it.

I am planning on going shorter as I cannot be bothered with the straightening and the subsequent dry looking hair. I will be checking that conditioner, I have greasy hair and struggle to find one that does not clog my hair.xx

I think shorter hair is higher maintenance – how are you finding it? I love L'Oréal products too x

A lot more hassle! That's mainly because I did nothing with my hair before. I can't decide whether to keep it short or grow it out x
