My Maternity Photoshoot with Studio Bambino

When I was pregnant with Rosalie I hated my bump! I felt fat and I was very aware of how big I was getting. I wore lots of baggy clothes and tried to hide it as much as I could. I didn’t even consider a professional Maternity Photoshoot. I asked Nick to take a few shots of my bump, you know, for the memories! Which I proceeded to edit the hell out of. These photos were just for us and I didn’t share them anywhere.

I’m 2 years into this motherhood malarky. I have also been blogging for the same length of time, sharing anything and everything in my little online space. I am a lot more confident. I also expect that this will be my last pregnancy. I have tried to savour every moment and enjoy this pregnancy as much as I possibly can. I had been thinking about having a professional maternity photoshoot for a while. I finally felt brave enough and contacted Emma at Studio Bambino.

I sent Emma a few images of the type of shoot that I had in mind. I was very much inspired by the gorgeous light and bright shots that Jess from Lilypod and Sweetpea and Sarah from This Mama Life had taken. Especially the ones that Jess had taken with her little boy. I couldn’t decide whether to take Rosalie along to our shoot or not. In the end I decided to, Emma helped persuade me and I am so glad that I did.

Emma took the ideas and ran with it, I was blown away by the wonderful images she captured. Under her instruction, she choreographed me into the most beautifully flattering poses. I can’t thank her enough for this as I had no idea how to stand but she guided me in such a lovely way.

Emma was wonderful with Rosalie and we kind of went with what Rosalie wanted for the first half of the shoot. Emma is used to working with children and has a daughter of a similar age. It could have been really stressful with a wilful toddler running around but Emma made sure it wasn’t and the experience was so enjoyable.

Emma made me feel like a movie star. I felt completely at ease in my semi naked state! I felt so comfortable in fact, that if all goes to plan, I have asked Emma to come and capture some shots of my home birth.

When I received the images back I couldn’t believe how beautiful they were. I am so pleased I decided to capture my pregnancy with a professional maternity shoot. If you are toying with the idea of having a maternity photoshoot I would say to do it, you wont regret it!
