This is my 31st Week of Pregnancy Update.
How far along? 31 weeks and 1 day
Due date? 7th May 2017
How is baby doing? Baby is 41.1 cm long and weighs 1,502 grams. She remains the size of a pumpkin but weighs about 1.5 kg now. Fat continues to accumulate under her skin, and she may gain as much as half a pound a week from now until birth, weight gain will vary from baby to baby. The lanugo is continuing to shed, although babies born prematurely may still have some of this at birth.
Even though the lungs are the last of all the organs to develop fully, baby girl is practising breathing 30 to 40 percent of the time. Bones are busy hardening and preparing to support her body after birth. The adrenal glands, which produce those important hormones called steroids, have doubled in size in the last ten weeks. Steroids are responsible for the growth and development of sex organs.
Maternity clothes: This week I will be venturing up in to the loft to get down all of my summer maternity wear which I will need to pack for our up and coming holiday. It’s still too cold to wear anything but leggings and jumpers in England.
Stretch marks: No stretch marks yet and I am still religiously applying my body butter ev’ry night.
Sleep: Sleep has been quite good this week. I haven’t been waking in the night and my only disturbance has been from Rosalie at 5.40am!
Best moment this week: Finishing the painting! Wooooo, let the nesting begin. I am so excited to get nursery prepping.
Miss anything? Being able to do things, getting breathless. I totally over did it this weekend and now I am paying the price.
Movement: I haven’t noticed much movement this weekend but I have been really active and busy so I’m probably just not paying attention to her movements. I am sat at my desk today and I can feel her moving so all is good. I am still feeling particular limbs sticking out. I have felt a heavy pressure in my vagina area so I think baby girl might be head done all ready which is slightly worrying. Just stay there for a few more weeks baby girl until we come back from our holiday.
Gender: It’s a Girl.
Labour signs: No labour signs. Although I do think I have had lightning crotch to day! Is this a labour sign?
Symptoms: As bump gets bigger it is getting more and more difficult to do things. As I said earlier I think baby girl is head down already as I have felt a heavy pressure down there. I was very active and totally overdid it this weekend so that may be why. I am definitely getting more breathless and even my resting breathing is quite heavy. It’s so embarrassing! Just generally getting rather large, she says eating a packet of crisps.
Anything making you queasy or sick? No.
Belly button in or out? Out.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Happy, I am so pleased that the decorating is done. I am really pleased with it too. It looks great!
How I feel? I am so relieved that the decorating is out of the way. I feel like I can finally prepare for baby girl. Although I am not looking at our bedroom and thinking that needs doing now too! It’s amazing how much fresher it all looks. We are thinking of getting a new bed and changing the wall paper in our bedroom so I am thinking now is the time to do some painting too. This nesting feeling has a lot to answer for and we only have 8 weeks to go. Do I dare add even more jobs to our list?
Looking forward to: starting to put together Rosalie’s new bedroom and baby girls nursery. The hard part is done now so it’s just the fun stuff to do.
