With the birth of my 2nd baby coming in a few short week I have been think a lot about baby girl’s impending arrival. Last time round I didn’t want to know anything about labour and birth. I didn’t want to watch one born every minute, call the midwife was about as much as I could take. The birth wasn’t something I was looking forward to but I knew I’d get through it.
This time round I couldn’t feel more different. I’m actually rather excited to do it all over again. I have opted to have a home birth this time round and it has made me feel so much more relaxed about the whole experience. I also hope to have the birth photographed by a professional photographer if the timings work.
Channel Mum have asked us to think about all the things that we wished we’d known before giving birth. I’ve filmed a little list of all the things no one told me and I wished they had. I hope you find this useful and that it prepares you a little if you are giving birth soon.

My waters didn’t break with either of my two – so funny how it is shown in the movies!

So weird isn’t it. I wonder how many peoples actually do xx

I wish I’d known that there is nothing to know. Every idea you have just doesn’t materialise at all once in that labour room. It’s a frightening time for all mums.

It really is and we’ll be doing it all again soon, eeek! xx

I had 2 very different but equally unpleasant experiences!! Not one thing I’d been told or learnt prior happened….except I had a baby/babies at the end of it all!!!

Oh no! the unknown is definitely scary. I guess you just have to be open to all eventualities! xx

I wish I had known about waters breaking too when mine went I thought like u I had just wet myself it was only when I couldn’t stop leaking I realised.
Sarah27th February 2017 at 9:43 PM
He he! Yes the leak xx

Mine didn’t go to plan at all – overdue, induced, emergency c-section – so I don’t think anything would have prepared me!

Goodness me! It’s always good to have a plan I think but you must be prepared for it to go out of the window! xx

Every birth is completely different so sometimes it’s best to just go in blind haha! Unfortunately we don’t have that luxury second time round huh! How exciting about having a home birth 🙂 x

Yes I think that is the key thing to remember. Even though you may have had a good one it might not be the same second time round! I am really looking forward to it. My husband really wasn’t keen but I’m so pleased I’ve decided to do it as it has made me feel so much more positive about the birth xx

I watched one born every minute every week when I was due my first. Lol
Sarah1st March 2017 at 11:16 AM
Ha ha! Did it help? My friends kept trying to make me and I was like ‘Nooooo! I don’t want to know!’ xx
Janine1st March 2017 at 11:50 AM
I couldn’t get over the fact that it looked so easy to them!!! It was certainly not easy to push!! xx

I have given birth four times, and my last was a hypnobirth which was just incredible. Good Luck! Kaz 🙂

Ooo! Did you use an app? I’d love to know your hypnobirth tips! xx

Ahh it’s so amazing that you’re planning a home birth! I think it will help so much with feeling relaxed being in your own home. I wish I could have had one too! Good luck lovely can’t wait to see your new arrival 🙂 xxx
Sarah1st March 2017 at 12:09 PM
