This recipe is not healthy but we all need a little naughtiness in our lives. Everything in moderation I say. Rosalie and I have got into the habit of having a naughty brunch on a Friday morning. French toast is one of her favourites.
Although I say this is naughty, the ingredients are not actually THAT bad, but combined they make something truly delicious!
It’s basically a chocolate spread sandwich, dipped in egg and then lightly fried until golden. Super easy but definitely worth it.INGREDIENTS:::
– Chocolate Spread, we used Nutella
– Bread
– 1 Egg
– Milk
– Icing sugar to finish (optional)
You start by making your chocolate spread sandwich. You want to make sure your filling is spread quite thinly. Less is more here. Rosalie and I have 1 and a half sandwiches each and that is more than enough. Turn on your hob to start to warm your pan.
Cut you sandwiches in half diagonally to make two triangles. In a bowl, crack in your egg and add a splash or two of milk. 1 egg was enough for our sandwiches but if you are cooking for more, add more eggs. Lightly beat the egg and milk together with a fork.
Once your egg and milk mixture is combined, dip in each triangle of sandwich so they are well coated with egg on both sides. Next, transfer them to your hot frying pan. Keep an eye on your toast you want them to be golden brown. Once they are, turn the sandwich over to cook the other side.
Once your French toast is cooked, transfer them to a plate, sprinkle with icing sugar and serve with the fruit of your choice. A token gesture I know! We had banana with ours.

18th February 2016 at 10:57 AMBet this tasted amazing – I'm wondering if it would do with oranges for a wonderful Chocolate Orange feel?

18th February 2016 at 11:01 AMThis looks so tasty. I'm not really a fan of chocolate spread on bread but could make an exception. Perhaps you could pop the banana in the middle of the sandwich before popping it in the pan for a warm breakfast treat. Now I could definitely try that!

19th February 2016 at 2:34 PMWe always have a 'naughty' breakfast day in our house but we tend to just have pancakes – this would make a really nice change. I mean, it's got chocolate spread in it – what more could you ask for, really?!
