Pregnancy Update – 23 Weeks

Pregnancy update - 23 weeks - roseyhome - pregnancy, pregnant, baby, mummy, parenting, pregnancy after miscarriage, pregnant with baby no.2

23 weeks. I am so happy. I FINALLY feel safe in this pregnancy. My bump is big enough that it can’t be mistaken for too much Christmas dinner and I can now see baby’s movements from the outside which is so lovely to watch!

How far along? 23 weeks and 1 day

Due date? 7th May 2017

How is baby doing? Baby weighs 501 grams and is 11.38 inches long. Baby weighs about a pound and by the end of this week has a 50% chance of survival if born early. The chance of survival depends on the week of gestation, the mothers health, the reason of premature labour, and the quality of medical care received. In the next 5 weeks baby will experience a major growth spurt. Baby’s cerebrum, a part of the brain that is responsible for memory, motor skills and intellect, is preparing to be able to conduct communication between cells. Rapid Eye Movements have begun to occur during baby’s sleep. The hair on baby’s body is darkening and even the skin is gaining some pigment. The bones and organs are still visible through the skin, however, they will soon become less visible due to the continued formation of fat.

Maternity clothes: I would like a few more maternity basic items like a few nursing bras, comfy pants, over bump leggings and under bump jeans but I still haven’t got round to ordering any yet. I am thinking of doing a h and m order as I have heard lots of good things about the h and m maternity leggings.

Stretch marks: No stretch marks yet. I am applying body butter every night as this will be the time that I will get them.

Sleep: For the first time in ages I had no ear pain so I managed to sleep reasonably well last night. Except that Rosalie woke up at 12pm and so I had to get up to settle her. I am looking forward to sleeping with no ear pain!

Best moment this week: Discovering that I could see baby’s kicks from the outside. I could lay and watch my tummy wriggle for hours!

Miss anything? Not missing anything yet. I am still able to do pretty much anything I need to and I can still carry Rosalie relatively easily.

Movement: Yes! I realised last night that I could see baby’s kicks from the outside. Nick and I were just lying on the sofa watching her move for half an hour or so. Rosalie had already gone to bed when I discovered this so I am looking forward to being able to show her mummy’s tummy moving later.

Gender: It’s a Girl.

Labour signs: No

Symptoms: I am definitely starting to waddle a little bit now, he he. Bump is getting bigger. We plan to take Rosalie trampolining next week and I think I will be crippled after!

Anything making you queasy or sick? No. I haven’t felt sick for a while which is rather lovely. I’m hoping those sick days are behind me now.

Belly button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On and at the moment it still swivels. I definitely can’t take it off though.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy

How I feel? I feel really positive and happy. I’m starting to feeling safe in this pregnancy and I am really starting to embrace the joys of being pregnant. Ha! well I’m trying too, when I was pregnant with Rosalie I had a very negative attitude. I felt like pregnancy was awful, I was fat and gross. This time round I am trying to relish my changing body and big boobies and really make the most of my bump. I now know how short this time is and I want to enjoy every aspect. I feel like I have waited a long time to be pregnant this time round.

Looking forward to: spending my evenings watching my bump dance. I can wait to show Rosalie the baby moving in mummy’s tummy.

So strange isn’t it! The novelty has definitely worn off. She is such a wriggler. xx

Thank you sweetheart. I’ve FINALLY purchased the H and M maternity leggings and I am enjoying the comfort. I went for Asos maternity jeans in the end as I couldn’t find any really black ones on H and M xx

You are doing great. I was really lazy and never applied anything to prevent stretchmarks.

Thank you hun. I was pretty good at applying it last time round and I was lucky enough to not get any so now I am convinced that is why and I have to keep applying it! xx
