Pregnancy Update – 16 Weeks

Pregnancy update - 16 weeks - roseyhome - pregnancy, pregnant, baby, mummy, parenting, pregnancy after miscarriage, pregnant with baby no.2

Wow! 16 weeks. This feels like another milestone. We will be having a gender scan this weekend and I couldn’t be more eager to find out. I feel like once we know we will really be able to prepare for this baby. Let the building work commence!

How far along? 16 weeks and 3 days

Due date? 7th May 2017

How is baby doing? Baby is the size of an Avocado, it weighs 100 grams and is 4.57 inches long. Although the baby is still quite small, the little heart is pumping approximately 25 quarts of blood every day. Baby is continually becoming more active and is busy practising all those movements that its tiny body has already learnt to perform. The bone’s inside baby’s body are hardening and the tiny legs and arms are now completely formed. Even though baby’s eyes are still closed, they are making little movements and even have the ability to sense changes in light through the eyelids. Baby’s flexible thumbs are now able to grasp, preparing for the day when that tiny hand will wrap around your finger.

Maternity clothes: I am in pain! I am wearing a pair of non-maternity leggings today and I don’t know if it is because of the leggings but my tummy really hurts, to the point where I feel a little sick. I have heard good things about the topshop maternity leggings so I think these might be the next item on my maternity wish list.

Stretch marks: No stretch marks yet. I have finally got into a routine of applying body butter every night so hopefully this will help me avoid them.

Sleep: Sleep hasn’t been too bad this week as I am really tired so I am drifting off pretty easily. I haven’t even been getting up in the night to go to the loo.

Best moment this week: Will be THE GENDER SCAN!! Only 3 days to go. I also have a midwife appointment later today. I like going to those appointments as it reminds me this is actually happening.

Miss anything? Hmm, Not really. I am kind of getting used to this pregnancy malarkey now. I guess I could say pate, shock! All the Christmas menus are flying around at the moment and that is what would be my ideal choice of starter normally. I am debating about whether to risk it or not… I probably won’t.

Movement: No obvious movements yet but to be honest I can’t remember the last time I sat down on the sofa quietly and just tried to feel. They could have been happening and I have just missed them.

Gender: Still unknown but the next time I write a pregnancy update I will be able to tell you!

Labour signs: No

Symptoms: This week I have mainly felt achy. My bones feel achy. It hurts to take off my jeans and put socks on. I don’t remember feeling like this first time around. My belly also aches today but I am not sure if that is because of the legging situation.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Possibly trousers that are too tight!

Belly button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy

How I feel? I am beyond excited to find out if we are having a boy or a girl. It has been on my mind for so long now I just can’t wait to have a resolution. I had a cry earlier in the week because if we do have another girl I was upset that Rosalie won’t be my only girl anymore. I am feeling much more positive about it all now and I think a sister will be a wonderful gift.

Looking forward to: THE GENDER SCAN! There is not long to go now and I am so looking forward to just knowing I feel like we will really be able to prepare for this baby then.

Which leggings are you using? I have the Next ones and found them brilliant during the pregnancy.
