How to make a cleaning schedule that works for you

Since going back to work I only have two days a week just me and my girl.  My time with her is so precious I try and get my chores done whilst Rosalie is sleeping. I’m finding it more and more difficult to get all my cleaning, blogging, and vlogging done in the evening or whilst she naps. If we go out shopping or meet up with friends we have even less time.
I had a wonderful cleaning routine whilst I was on maternity leave. I loved having a tidy house and being on top of everything. Sadly since I have gone back to work things have slipped. My phased working has come to an end and I am now working three days a week. I have even less time. I find the ironing pile is getting bigger and bigger and I am drying my sheets late on a Sunday evening to try and get it all done for the start of the week. It’s not productive and it stresses me out.
I needed to come up with a new cleaning rota. I need to get into the habit of doing a little every day so that come the end of the week all my jobs are done and I can have a nice sunday night pamper before the working week begins.
I started by firstly making of my weekly chores:
– Laundry
– Hoovering
– Changing the sheets
– Washing the towels
– Mopping the floors
– Cleaning the kitchen
– Food Shopping
I then looked at my diary and worked out the time slots that I had free. I tried to fit most of the chores in around Rosalie’s naps so it doesn’t affect our limited time together.

Monday    – Working 8.30 – 5.30pm  – NO JOBS TODAY
Tuesday   –         HOME DAY       – Clean kitchen
– Laundry
– Sweep and mop downstairs
Wednesday – Working 8.30 – 3pm     – 3-5 blogging
Thursday  – Working 8.30 – 12.30pm – Wash towels
– Clean bathrooms
– Hoover upstairs
Friday    –         HOME DAY       – Laundry
– Any other jobs
Saturday  –         HOME DAY       – Do food shopping
Sunday    –         HOME DAY       – Change sheets
I am going to give this a go. Hopefully by splitting my tasks between the days I’ll be able to get it all done and I won’t spend my time with Rosalie doing chores. I feel so much better when the house is tidy.

Wow! Super Mum! I couldn't imagine having to fit in child minding as well. I think it does help and means you don't have to spend your day off cleaning. It's working well so far xxx

Try to figure out ways to include your daughter in the chores. Mine loves to help with laundry by putting clothes in the machine, taking them out, closing the soap drawer, and pushing the buttons. She started helping before she was 2. I need to get her helping with some other chores so I can actually get some more done around the house.

That is such a good idea! She does help take the clothes out of the washing machine sometimes. She also helps when I mop the floor, she try's to push the mop around. Only for a short time though, it's not long till her hands find there way into the mop bucket! ? Xx

Personally I believe that one of the most important things a child can learn as they grow up is to cook. Start them small and work them up to full meals so that by the time they leave home to tackle the big wide world on their own they can make a successful meal all by themselves.

It is a really good idea to make a schedule and split the tasks through the week. I work full time and usually is very hard to keep up with the cleaning at home. I very often have no time to clean during the week, except for basic vacuum clean and floor wipe, so I do the cleaning in the weekends. I think that I must try to spread the tasks. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
