Rosalie’s 1st Birthday Party Prep

Saturday saw Rosalie’s first birthday party. I can’t believe my little baby is one year old!

We had a small, afternoon tea party with family and friends.

As anticipated, I went a little overboard with the decor and buffet. Although it looked pretty and was very instagram worthy even if I do say so myself.

The tassel garland was an ebay find. I designed it myself, choosing the colours, and the number of tassels I wanted. The garland was really cheap too at only £7.76 plus delivery. I must confess, I did not anticipate having to twist up the tassels myself. It wasn’t too difficult and instructions are included to show you how to do this. Once I’d done a few I soon got the hang of it and it was actually quite relaxing. Now Rosalie’s party is over I have hung the garland up in her bedroom above her cot.

The paper pom poms were another DIY from ebay although these were a little more expensive. Although it probably only seems that way because I over ordered! Again, you just choose the colour you want. I ordered pink, white, mint green and lavender as that was the colour scheme I had picked. I chose size medium and I ordered 4 of each colour (I was enticed by the by 3 get the 4th free offer…) I only used 2 of each colour in the end though.

The picture bunting was another DIY. I had thought about buying an Instagram memory box and hanging up the Polaroid’s as bunting. To keep costs down I decided to just print my own pictures onto photo paper. I cut them out and pegged those onto some raffia I had lying around.

Rosalie’s Newborn to 12 month pictures I made myself using pages on my mac but you could do this on word too. I just selected the pictures, positioned them and added some font. I framed these in some Ikea frames and gifted them to Rosalie’s grandparents after the party.

The blackboard I made with the help of Grandad Steve. This will be a permanent fixture in our kitchen so Rosalie can doodle on there as she pleases. The ‘Rosalie is one’ design I found on pinterest. I did this free hand using pastel chalk pens I had bought from amazon. I wouldn’t recommend purchasing these as they ran out before I had even finished the title so I had to resort to good old fashioned chalk for the rest of it.

The is from toucan, this normally hangs in Rosalie’s bedroom.

The is from a lovely little company. I love this, It’s just perfect and brings the birthday decor all together.

The pink, stripey paper straws I ordered from ebay.

So that’s it! A few simple decs and diy’s that made Rosalie’s first birthday party extra special. What are you planning for you little one’s next birthday?
