The BEST Hairstyles for Busy Mums

The best hairstyles for busy mums - Roseyhome - hair, style, mums, mamalife, mum style

Mama life is tough. As mum’s we are lucky to get a few minutes to ourselves in the morning. There is no time for elaborate hairstyles.

Maeve has just turned 7 months old and although my Post-Partum hair loss is not as bad as it once was. I am still losing my hair at quite a rate. I don’t like to fuss with my hair too much as I feel like it makes more hair fall out.

Today I’m sharing the best hairstyles for busy mums, all of which can be done in less than 5 minutes.

1.The Pony

The classic ponytail. It’s so versatile. The sporty, high swingy pony to pair with your trainers and leggings or the smooth and sleek, low pony suitable for the office or even a rare night out.

2. The Mum Bun

Obviously I had to include the mum bun. It’s how I have my hair 99% of the time. I don’t think there is ever an occasion when this isn’t suitable. It can be dressed up or down. It’s just so practical, off your face and out of the grasp of little fingers.

3. Wavey Lengths

There are some days when it’s nice to have your hair down. Maybe you are meeting a friend for coffee or going on a playdate. My hair normally starts off like this, but it lasts all of 5 minutes before it’s scraped back into my usual mum bun. I find the easiest way to create tousled waves is to use XL dry shampoo.

I turn my head upside down, give my usually greasy roots a spritz, and then rub it in as if I am shampooing my hair. This is really important as you don’t want any white bits. I work a few more sprays down the lengths and give my hair a scrunch as I go. I flick my hair back over and voila. Messy, tousled waves without the crispy salt spray. This hairstyle works particularly well if used the day after wearing a mum bun as it gives the hair added wave.

Spending a little bit of time on your hair in the morning can make such a difference to how you feel.  It can really set you up for the day. Styled hair can make such a difference to your whole look.

Here’s hoping my Post-Partum hair loss finally calms down. In the meantime I’ll keep using these fuss-free hairstyles.

I had my hair cut last week and the hair dresser blow dried it and put in some loose curls. It looked so lovely and it made me feel a lot more glam than I usually do as a busy working mum. I wish I had the skills – and the time – to do it like that more often! I don’t wear mine in a pony tail that often as I prefer it down. But in the house it’s often in a messy mum bun!

Fab post. I’m gonna try using dry shampoo for tousled waves as the salt spray costs so much. Thanks for the tip x
