Top 10 things every mama needs in her medicine cupboard and GIVEAWAY

Top 10 things every mama needs in her medicine cupoard - roseyhome - baby, medicine, illness, sickness, medicine cupboard

After being hit with chicken pox last week, I had a reassessment of my medicine cupboard to make sure I was fully stocked for winter. Rosalie now attends preschool every day and with that comes exposure to lots of germs. It’s inevitable that sickness will hit us again so I wanted to make sure I had everything I needed on hand should one of the girls falls ill. Here are my list of the Top 10 things every mama needs in her medicine cupboard.

Thermometer

We have the Infared Thermometer from Pedicare home. This is great device as it can be used as both a forehead thermometer and in ear thermometer. Once a temperature has been recorded it lights up green if it is ok and red if the temperature is too high. The infared forehead means you can take your little ones temperature without disturbing their sleep.

Plasters

As a mama you ALWAYS need plasters. Even if your little one hasn’t actually cut themselves or broke the skin I find a strategically placed plaster helps every poorly baby feel better.

PARACETOMOL

Paracetomol can be used to treat so many childhood ailments, fever, aches and pains, colds to name but a few. It is quick working and can be used from 2 months old. We use Calpol as it comes with any easy dose syringe.

Ibruprofen

Ibroprofen is another pain reliever. This can be used along side paracetomol if your little one is really suffering. You can alternate between ibruprofen and paracetamol every 2 hours. It is good to use to combat teething because it has anti-inflammatory properties.

Piriton

Piriton is used to an an relief treatment for hayfever and skin allergies but it can also be used to relieve the itchy rash of chicken pox and insect stings.

Nasal Aspirator

A Nasal Aspirator can be used if your little one is filled with mucus from a cold or flu virus. This battery powered nasal aspirator is the one we have. It’s easy to use and helps children breathe easier.

Tissues

Tissues are needed to mop up the multitude of bodily fluids that ooze from sick kids. Particularly snot.

Vaseline

Vaseline is great for sooting dry skin and can even be used as a nappy cream. I also use this to stem a bleed of small cuts.

Sudocrem

This antiseptic healing cream is favourite in our house. I use it on everything, from Mummy spots to a treatment for nappy rash.

Onesie

Comfy clothes are a must when your little ones are ill as you want them to be as comfortable as possible. I always dress Rosalie in a onesie as it’s nice and cosy. It also means I have my own personal teddybear to cuddle. Whenever your children are ill they will need lots of mummy cuddles so make sure you are fully stocked up!

You can be in with a chance of winning 2 items from my list of  top 10 things every mama needs in her medicine cupboard. It is so hard when they’re poorly isn’t it? I never used a nasal aspirator with my two but it sounds like I was missing out! x
