Pregnancy Update – 36 Weeks

Pregnancy update - 36 weeks - roseyhome - pregnancy, pregnant, baby, mummy, parenting, pregnancy after miscarriage, pregnant with baby no.2

How far along? 36 weeks and 3 days

Due date? 7th May 2017

How is baby doing? Baby weighs approximately 6 pounds which is 2.5 kg and will gain approximately one half of a pound per week from now until birth. The protective fat layer will make up about 15 percent of your baby’s weight at birth. Even though baby girl’s gums have ridges that look a bit like teeth, the real ones wont make an appearance until about five or six months after birth. Baby’s cheek’s are developing fat. The cheek muscles are also developing, creating that lovely chubby appearance. Baby is probably sleeping about 90 percent of the time as there isn’t much room to move around anymore. Although I am still feeling regular movements.

Maternity clothes: I am mostly wearing maternity leggings with tops or dresses.

Stretch marks: Stretch marks have appeared! I have started to get stretch marks underneath my boobs. You can’t actually see them and I didn’t even know they were there until I lifted my boobs up! I have started to use a stretchmark fader on them to help them heal. I did get stretchmarks in the same position when I was pregnant with Rosalie and they did go away so hopefully they will again.

Sleep: Sleep hasn’t been very good this week as Rosalie hasn’t been very well. She has been waking up 4 or 5 times a night. She keeps having coughing fits and works herself up until a little panic attack. So I have been going in to settle her and to give her a drink of water. I’m very aware that soon I won’t be able to tend to Rosalie so completely so I am making the most of it.

Best moment this week: This weekend I have my baby shower which is very exciting. I know absolutely nothing about what is happening. My besties are very secretive!

Miss anything? Just being comfortable. I can’t sit for long periods or find a comfortable lying position. Driving is now uncomfortable. If anyone has any tips please let me know!

Movement: Baby is definitely not moving about as much but I think that is quite normal as there isn’t as much room in there. I still feel her move often. She is head down at the moment and I think the midwife said she was 3/5th’s engaged.

Gender: It’s a Girl.

Labour signs: No labour signs. I did drink a cup of raspberry leaf tea last night and nothing untoward happened so I am going to step up my raspberry leaf tea drinking.

Symptoms: Same old symptoms really. Breathlessness, I still have the crushing sensation on my lungs. I havn’t had any sharp shooting pains down below or cramps which makes me think that baby girl is still quite high and that she hasn’t dropped yet. I’m guessing that now stretch marks have appeared on my boobies that they are getting bigger.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing has made me feel sick this week.

Belly button in or out? Definitely out.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or moody most of the time: I would say that I have probably been quite moody this week. I am getting annoyed that nothing is ready and that I can’t nest properly. We’ve actually finished Rosalie’s room now so I go and sit in there when I feel sad about the Nursery not being finished. I can’t pack my hospital bag because I havn’t got any of the baby’s clothes out yet. I’m going to go through those later today so hopefully after that I’ll feel a lot better and more prepared. I’ll be 37 weeks this weekend which is full term and we still havn’t put the car seat in the car!

How I feel? I feel unprepared and slightly panicked about how far gone I am and how unprepared we are.

Looking forward to: feeling settled and having everything DONE. I would like to be able to say that I am ready and that baby girl can come.

I’m lucky in the sense that at 35 weeks baby has dropped for me, so I have lots of space to breath- but the fanny daggers… o.m.g.
