Welcome to my Pregnancy Update – 35 Weeks.

How far along? 35 weeks and 3 days

Due date? 7th May 2017

How is baby doing? Baby weighs 5 and a half pounds now and will start a period of rapid weight gain this week. From now until birth baby will gain approximately one half of a pound per week. Alot of this weight is the all important brown fat to keep baby girl warm for the first few weeks after birth. This brown fat is different from the white fat.  Brown fat contains more cells that produce body heat and this in turn prevents hypothermia. This brown fat appears on baby’s upper spine , back and shoulders.

Maternity clothes: I recently did a little Primark Haul and I bought a few dresses and shirts that weren’t actually maternity wear but are suitable for hiding a very large bump. I have my bestie’s baby shower and my own coming up so I wanted to pick up a few nice things.

Stretch marks: No stretch marks yet. I know this is the time that I am likely to get them as I will be getting the biggest so I am still applying body butter every night.

Sleep: Sleep hasn’t been too bad. It’s definitely improved since last week. I would say I am probably waking 1 or 2 times a night rather than 4 or 5 times the week before.

Best moment this week: This weekend is my bestie’s baby shower. She is due the week after me. It’ll be a lovely to have a nice girly day and to talk all things baby.

Miss anything? Baby is pretty much fully grown now so I am eating whatever I want now. Just being comfortable I guess and being able to have a good night’s sleep.

Movement: Baby girl is still moving around lots. I havn’t actually noticed her moving around as much but I think that’s because we have been busy. Life is hectic. So much for a relaxing maternity leave!

Gender: It’s a Girl.

Labour signs: No labour signs. I’ve decided to leave off the raspberry leaf tea for a few weeks as I had a cup last week and then had lots of cramps the next day and it frightened me as I thought I was going into labour, ha ha. I am not going to wait until after my baby shower to start my baby eviction procedure.

Symptoms: Still getting bigger. I’m feeling tired but not as tired as I did last week. I am feeling more myself now. Indigestion. If I over do it physically I definitely know about it and can hardly walk the next day.  It takes me longer to get dressed in the mornings and it’s a struggle getting in and out of the bath.

Anything making you queasy or sick? No. Although I do keep forgetting to eat. Rosalie goes to preschool at 12.30pm which means I need to give her lunch at about 11.30am. I often don’t feel like eating then so don’t but then I am so busy cramming everything I have to do that day into those child free hours that I forget to eat. I must not skip lunch as that is not ideal and does make me feel a little light headed.

Belly button in or out? Definitely out.

Wedding rings on or off? On.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy. I am definitely a lot happier this week. I am now only waiting on myself to do some sorting out. I am looking forward to going through all the baby girl’s clothes we have any seeing if we need anything.

How I feel? I feel good. I am getting lots of jobs ticked off my to do list whilst on maternity leave.

Looking forward to: being able to say I am fully prepared and I am ready for baby girl to arrive.
