Pregnancy Update – 17 Weeks

Pregnancy update - 17 weeks - roseyhome - pregnancy, pregnant, baby, mummy, parenting, pregnancy after miscarriage, pregnant with baby no.2

How far along? 17 weeks and 1 day

Due date? 7th May 2017

How is baby doing? Baby weighs 140 grams and is 5.12 inches long. The veins that have been showing through baby’s skin are becoming less obvious now as fat formation begins. Even though the baby has had taste buds for quite some time, it is only now that it can really make out differences in flavour. Baby is now the same size as the placenta and the little heart is busy pumping 25 quarts of blood a day. The meconium, the first bowl movement that baby will have after birth, is forming in your little ones bowel. Baby is big enough to fit into the palm of your hand an is about the size of an orange. Baby’s brain is communicating constantly with the nervous system and muscles and I am more likely to feel movements now.

Maternity clothes: I went into the loft and got down the few bits of maternity wear I’d put away after Rosalie. There isn’t much but the odd wearable thing and loads of my mums leggings!

Stretch marks: No stretch marks yet but I have slacked off with the butter application again as I have been so tired come bedtime!

Sleep: Sleep hasn’t been too terrible. I am going to bed with a pillow between my legs every night!

Best moment this week: The best moment this week will be getting up to date with my monthly updates. Woohoo!

Miss anything? No

Movement: Yes. I first felt/saw the baby move at my 16 week maternity check up when my midwife was listening to the baby’s heart beat and ever since then I have noticed the baby’s movements a lot more. I can feel where the baby is laying. I’ve tried to get Nick to feel for the baby but he cant feel anything yet.

Gender: It’s a girl!

Labour signs: No

Symptoms: I have been so sick today. I havn’t experienced any morning sickness. The odd gagging fit and a little bit of bile but no real sick. Today, however, I have been sick twice already, after breakfast. I am at work today from 9 – 5 and I feel so sick I am considering going home. I feel like it’s a little pathetic. I’m only pregnant after all but I feel so terrible. I’m not sure if it is pregnancy related or not. Very strange.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Yes but I’m not sure what is making me sick…

Belly button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy

How I feel? I am very pleased to announce that we are having another little girl. I haven’t hidden my desire to have a boy but actually I wasn’t that disappointed. I already had an inkling that this baby would be a girl after posting my 12 week scan picture on the strictly nub theory page. It is so funny but when you have it confirmed that it’s a girl its like you always knew, and that it is meant to be. I am excited that I will have another wonderful girl to treasure my whole life and that Rosalie will have her too. They always say you keep your girls are mine will be with me forever. My mum is my best friend and I hope the 4 of us, Grandma, ok 5 with Nana as well, will always be as close.

Looking forward to: Right now, I feel so sick! I think I am going to go home and sleep

Awww a little girl. Congrats. Sorry to hear you’ve been sick. I think that’s possibly one of the worst things in pregnancy isn’t it? I used to wretch a lot rather than be sick but that was pretty bad x
