May in the Garden

May has been and gone. We were on holiday for two weeks of May so I made sure I had done all of these jobs before we left. My mum kindly watered all my plants whilst we were away and I am pleased to say all but one plant survived.

Here is the list of all the jobs I did in my garden this May:::
–     Plant everything out
Now the weather has FINALLY warmed up. Most of your plants will be ready to plant out now. If you have any plants still waiting to be planted out now is the time to do it.
–     Weed
As your garden grows so do the weeds! Be sure to pull out any little weeds as soon as you find them so that they don’t build up and become a bigger task.
–     Train your climbers
If you are growing any plants that grow tall like beans or tomatoes make sure that you have supports in place for them to grow up. By now your plants should be a good size so you just need to guide your plants up their supports by wrapping them round.
–     Water
This is a pretty obvious one! Your plants should be growing well by now so they will need to be watered regularly. As the weather warms up and we get less rain you need to make sure that they soil stays nice and moist.
–     Pick your produce
Some of your vegetables may be ready for picking. Pick vegetables as soon as they are ripe so you are eating them at their very best. So far I have harvested spinach, lettuce and kale from my own garden. I noticed today that a few mongetou have started to grow. It wont be long until we have enough for dinner.
That’s all the Garden tasks that I have done in my garden this month. I filmed a May In the Garden video over on my YouTube channel. You can see how my garden is looking this month. Be sure to subscribe so that you don’t miss June’s list of jobs to do in the garden.

It is lovely. It's so nice to get outside and let your mind wander as you do the watering each day. I try and practise mindfulness as I do it too xx

I love this corner of your garden. I must admit i've never been particularly green-fingered but we are currently growing some herbs and strawberries in planters and have some sweet peas that are starting to climb. It's a great way to get the kids outside more! xx

It takes ages to get things looking good doesn't it. We have been in our house 5 years and I'm still not completely happy with it! Xx

I don't have a garden, but I wish I did. Your planter looks so neat and tidy, you've definitely got green fingers! xx

Love that planter! Our garden is full of rabbits so I haven't attempted to grow any veg yet… perhaps I need to get some big planters first 🙂

Oh no! Damn rabbits. Pests are the worst. I think I have an ants nest in my planter but luckily they don't seems to disturb the veggies, they just nibble the leaves!

I so wish I had the time to sort my garden. I used to spend hours out there but haven't done anything in years. Maybe a little patch like this would be good for us too xx

Pots and planters are so easy as you know the soil is good before you start. They are a lot less work. Give it a try. Hopefully you'll be inspired again xx
