What we eat in a day

Rosalie eats really well. There are very few foods Rosie won’t eat, and she nearly always clears her plate. I decided to film a what we eat in a day video over on my channel so you can see the types of food we eat.

We try and eat a fairly clean diet with foods that are as unprocessed as possible. It doesn’t always work out, Sometimes it is just easier to give the girl a biscuit!Breakfast: For breakfast we often have cereal because it’s quick and easy. On this day we had wholewheat blueberry wheats. Rosalie likes these as she can pick them out with her hands. She uses her spoon a lot more now but this is a great cereal for toddlers just starting to use a spoon as they are easy for them to scoop up.

Snack: As a mid-morning snack Rosalie had a box of raisins. I have only just started giving Rosalie raisins but they make such a great snack, especially on the go as there is no mess!
Lunch: We have jacket potato and tuna for lunch at least once a week. I prick the jacket potatoes and put them in the microwave for 12 minutes. So easy and it means you get a nice hot lunch in under 15 minutes. I mix 1 tin of tuna with a LARGE spoonful of mayo and an equally LARGE spoonful of natural yogurt. Rosalie and I then have this half each.
Although not strictly clean as it comes from a tin the benefits of Tuna are so great it makes up for it. Tuna is one of the healthiest foods that a growing child can eat. It is an excellent source of protein and is easily digestible by young children.
Tinned tuna is also low in fat and calories, contains essential vitamins and minerals and is rich in omega-3 fatty acids – which are especially important during early childhood for eye and brain development.
Snack: As an afternoon snack Rosalie and I had some energy balls. I made these myself a few weeks ago now and I just keep them in the fridge and we have a few every now and then. The recipe for these energy balls can be found on my blog. Rosalie has started to ask for ‘choc-choc’ and I sneakily give her these instead, he he! I had a coffee with mine too.Dinner: Comfort food time! We had some steak in the fridge that needed using up so I decided to make a slow cooker stew for dinner. Rosalie has never had stew before so it was a new one for us.
We didn’t have any carrots or celery so I ended up making it with the veg we had in the fridge: sweet potato, normal potato, and peppers. Not your normal stew vegetable combo but it actually tasted really nice. Rosalie loved dipping her slices of bread and butter into the stew and picked all the vegetables out. We even had enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Winning!
Before Bed: Rosalie will have a beaker of cows milk before bed whilst we snuggle on the sofa watching in the night garden.
So there you have it. That’s what we eat in a day. I hope you have enjoyed seeing what we eat If you’d like some more posts like this let me know in the comments below.

I daren't record what my toddler eats in a day, he refuses to eat often for me. I've no idea why; he eats loads in nursery and for his dad, but is a right little fussy bum for me! x

They are so funny aren't they? Sometimes she just won't eat her dinner and I have no idea why. I don't worry too much. She normally eats a lot so I think won't starve! X

I find my kids seem to eat a lot better since they started having hot school dinners, which is great that they are free for my 6 year old through the government scheme. We are a fan of jacket potatoes in the house although for a ultra quick meal we sometimes use the frozen ones 😉

wish my little ones would eat tuna – both of them refuse fish for some reason. I must be doing something wrong!

Loads of a mayonnaise! Or half Mayo, half yogurt like we do. I think Rosalie thinks it's sauce!

I found this really interesting. I haven't tried my Toddler on jacket potato or tuna yet. I'll have to rectify that.

We have these a lot. I think because they are so easy for her to pick up and eat or use her spoon with them she doesn't get frustrated x

This is a great post! We also try to eat a fairly clean diet but do have a few treats now and then. Will have to try the blueberry wheats for my two year old, she normally chooses Weetabix, cheerios or porridge but it's good to switch it up! xo
