Rosalie’s 17 Month Update

My girl, you are 17 months. Christmas came and went. You were a little darling. You loved opening your presents and played with every one. You are nearly 1 and a half! How has that happened?! A fully fledged toddler.

Weight: Heavy! Although I have no idea what she actually weighs. I might try and get her to stand on the scales this evening.

Daily: I work 3 days a week. Rosalie is lucky enough to be looked after by Grandma and Nanny on my working days.

Rosalie wakes up at about 7.30am.
On a working day, I get up at 7am to get up and get ready before she wakes. At 7.30am I’ll go and get Rosalie up. I get her dressed and then we go downstairs to have our breakfast together
On no working days, We get up and go downstairs to watch some ‘Pepa’ (Rosalie asks for it now!) whilst Rosalie drinks her milk and I have a coffee. We will then usually have breakfast a little later around 9am.

After Breakfast I get Rosalie sorted for the day. We then usually go out or do a little activity. Rosalie normally has a nap around 11am if we are not going out.

Rosalie and I always have dinner together around 5.30/6pm every night. I like to have dinner as a family every night but with Nick’s training it isn’t always possible. Every other night Rosalie will have a bath, bed time story and then bed. On the nights she doesn’t have a bath I have started to let her watch in the night garden before bed. I actually love this time as Rosalie will sleepily cuddle up to me on the sofa!

Playtime: I hate to admit it but Rosalie has definitely taken more of an interest in the television. She asks to watch ‘Pepa’ and brings you the remote control. It’s strange because she has never really watched much tele. I don’t have it on in the background or anything because I end up watching it and I’d never get anything done! I do now put it on for an hour and then we’ll turn it off and do something else.

She still likes to feed her doll and soft toys and loves her little wooden dolls pram she got for Christmas. It was really reasonably priced but is really sturdy. Rosalie has also taken to sitting in it herself. She has taken more of an interest in her rocking horse. She pulls it out and sits on it herself.

She still really enjoys books. We have a book basket in the living room and her bedroom and Rosalie takes out books and bring them to you so you can read them to her.

Her favourite toy of the moment is a shape sorting bus that she got for Christmas. It has a little back door where you can empty all the shapes. Rosalie keeps bringing it over to me to empty and then we will sit and put them all back in. This one has lots of different shapes even an octagon and crescent moon so it’s a more difficult than most but she can do them all and claps every time she gets one in.
I nearly forgot! Rosalie has learnt to Roley Poley. She literally throws herself over all on her own. She has no fear that girl! She also does them on demand, you only have to say ‘roley poley’ and she has got her head down with her bum in the air!

Bedtime: Rosalie goes to bed at 7pm every night. Every other night I give Rosalie a bath. On bath nights, I will dry her off, let her choose her jim jams and then we will read some bedtime stories. On non bath nights I have started to let Rosalie watch in the night gard on cbeebies. It’s mesmerising. Rosalie sits so quietly watching it on the sofa. I actually really like this time as she cuddles up to me whilst drinking her milk and it is a lovely way to end the day.

Feeding: Rosalie eats whatever we are having for dinner. The only think she doesn’t really like is fajitas. I cooked some pasta the other day with a few to many chilli flakes in and she kept sticking her tongue out and coughing. Bless her! We are having a curry tonight which we don’t have very often so I am going to try and make it very mild.

Sizes: Rosalie is still in 12- 18 month clothes, just! The leggings fit her nicely but she has outgrown all her standard t shirt style tops. She doesn’t have very many of these as I tend to buy floaty tunic style tops or dresses as they will fit her for longer. It won’t be long before she grows out of those too.

She is in size 5 nappies.
Milestones:
Teeth – Rosalie has 10 teeth. Her molars are coming through and they have given her a little more trouble. She isn’t too bad just a little grouchier because she is in pain. She also keeps waking in the night but luckily she settles quickly if I lie her back down.
Talking – Rosalie is always talking! Her word count is definitely going up. I’ll try and remember them all. She says ‘doggy’, ‘woof’, ‘oh no’, ‘yea’, ‘Teddy’, ‘Baby’, ‘Uh-oh’, ‘Bye-bye’, ‘Nana’, ‘nar-nar’ ‘tickle-tickle’ ‘Dada’ ‘Mama’ ‘More’ ‘Pot pot’ ‘wee wee’ ‘poo poo’ ‘Biscuit’ ‘Chocolate’ ‘Breakfast’ ‘look’ ‘this’ ‘ralph’ ‘Ran-ma’ (Grandma). She says ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ and she will now answer you if you ask her a question. There are probably a few more that I can’t think of. She understands everything. She will go and fetch things and bring them too you and she will take things to people so she knows who everyone is.
Potty training – We now have two potties but she still hasn’t done the deed in one yet. The few times I have let her go nappy less she has weed on the carpet! I’m not too worried yet though as she is only young.

You are gorgeous happy little thing. I hope these teeth will hurry up and come through because I hate to see them hurting you. Ooo you love dancing too! You are so funny because now whenever you enjoy something you say ‘More! More!’ until we do it again.
