Advent Basket

I saw this idea over on Alice’s blog and I absolutely love it! It is similar to the Christmas Eve box idea but by giving your children their hamper on the 1st it means they can enjoy their goodies for the whole of December rather than just for one night on Christmas Eve.
Rosalie is 15 months old so still doesn’t really understand Christmas but I think this is a lovely way to introduce the idea at the start of the month, I can teach her about Christmas by reading her stories and doing christmas activities in the lead up to the big day.
Here’s what’s inside Rosalie’s Advent Basket:
We read to Rosalie every night before bed. I wanted to get a few Christmas books so that she would start to learn what Christmas is all about. She has also discovered a love of stickers so I have bought a few christmas sticker books that I saw whilst out shopping. She is a little too young for stickers really she doesn’t stick them in the right place but she enjoys sticking them all the same!

Christmas Teddy – pound land

Christmas tree light – ebay

Christmas plate – 99p shop
This light up Christmas tree is an Ebay find. I’m rather pleased with this and think it will look lovely in Rosalie’s bed room. I thought I’d put Rosalie’s stocking in her hamper so we can hang it up together when we put the decorations up.

Christmas jumper – Next
Minnie Mouse Christmas pyjama set – Asda
Christmas outfit – Morrison’s
I’ve been looking for some christmas pyjama’s for Rosalie for what seems like ages. A lot of them have characters on which I didn’t really want. I settled on this pair as although they are minnie mouse. Only one pair has minnie mouse on, the other is just Christmas patterned. Rosalie’s christmas jumper is from Next and I bought it in the sale last year. Her Christmas dress and tight set were bought for Rosalie by my mum on a recent Morrison’s trip.

I also snuck in a little bag of white chocolate coins from Morrisons and Rosalie’s advent calendar from Wilkinsons. Rosalie chose this George one out of the many on display. We kept trying to persuade her to choose the Peppa Pig advent calendar but she was adamant she wanted George, so George she has!

I really loved putting this basket together, big thank you to Alice for giving me the idea. I just hope Rosalie loves it too. Nick is away with work all this week so I think I will give it to Rosalie at the weekend when he comes home. It’ll be a little after the first but I’m sure she won’t mind.
Will you be doing a christmas eve or advent basket this year?

This a lovely idea. In our house we have a present for every day of the 12 days of Christmas so it lasts until January.

What a lovely idea. We have a beautiful home made (not by me sadly) advent calendar and a shoe box wrapped in Christmas paper. Every night the elves put something in the box if the girls have been good. It's a nice little family tradition that has developed and it makes advent mornings very special.x

I love these christmas boxes and hampers everyone is doing, such a cute idea. I haven't done one before. To be honest Lamb is so spoilt ( not by us, he just generally expects anything he asks for!) I want him to know how special the presents are on christmas day. I'll probably do this when he's a little older xx

What a great idea! I've always thought the Christmas Eve basket was a bit odd when it was so close to Christmas but the idea of having a month to enjoy the exciting goodies is genius.
