House Renovation – Guest Bedroom/Study – Part 3

Before we left for Spain we had a mad few days of DIY.

We had finished painting the walls in this bedroom before we went to Cornwall so we knew everything was dry and we could start to move the furniture in.

Please note! This is not a finished room and is a holding area for some stuff that will make its final home in rooms of the house that are still unfinished.

Little corners are looking nice though so I thought I’d show you where we are at the moment.

Desk and filing cabinet painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

I painted the filing cabinet in the desk area and the frames of the flower pictures in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White. I’m unsure whether to paint the desk (my old dressing table) or not so I’m leaving it for the time being. I’m happy with the way it looks at the moment. The folders on the desk are from Cath Kidston. The pen pot is an old mug from Sainsburys.

Duvet Cover Print

The bed I painted as well. Again in Old White Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. The duvet cover I have had for a while but it was still new in its packaging. I can’t remember where I got this from but it was in the sale at £12.99 as the price was on the packaging. The chest of drawers is old. It was part of the furniture from my old bedroom. The mirror used to sit on top of my old dressing table. The curtains were hanging in our old spare bedroom and so I reused them in here.

The coat rail in the room is a temporary thing. The coats will eventually be housed in a coat cupboard in the utility room but until that is built they will have to stay here.

Temporary coat storage!

I’m toying with the idea of putting an Ikea Expedit shelf in this corner once the coats are moved out. I like this shelf as it can store a variety of different things in each section. My plan is to have one box to keep my fabric, another for my sewing machine, another for my crochet stuff etc. And maybe one for Nick’s trophies! He he.

I think it already looks nice at this point. I think what you’ve done here is enough to give your guest a cozy and comfy place in your home. Still, I’d love to see what else you have in store for this room. Is the renovation complete? I hope everything turned out to your liking. Good day!

Wow! Your guest room is looking great. I can tell just by looking at the pictures that you're good in matching colors and designs. I'm also amazed to know that you are the one who painted the bed and the cabinet. That was so creative of you. I'm sure your guests will feel very comfortable and at home if they stay in that room. In any way, thanks for sharing that, Sarah! Kudos and all the best to you!
