House renovation – Guest Bedroom/Study – Part 1

This weekend was another busy one in the Cantwell
household.

Nick, his dad and his brother were all busy in the Kitchen
so I recruited my mum and step dad to help me paint the guest bedroom/study.

This room used to house all our clothes before we created
the walk in wardrobe so was full of old rails and my old dressing table.
Before

I forgot to take some before pictures of the whole room but
here is a picture of one of the rails. The walls were an ugly brown plaster
colour, the walls hadn’t been painted very well at all. I think the previous
owners did a rush job of painting every room this colour (or a variant of it!)
in order to sell the property.

Walls in Cotton White
We painted the walls in Dulux Cotton White and the ceiling
and coving in Dulux Brilliant White. My step dad also gave the radiator a lick
of paint. I just need to paint the skirting and window sill now but don’t think
I’ll get round to that until after our holiday(s), not that I’m complaining! 🙂
After
We will be keeping the carpet in this room as it is good
quality and quite neutral. The doors will be painted white and the door handles will be changed.
After

Already the room looks a lot brighter and fresher. Looking
forward to finishing it off and being able to move our furniture back in so we can really see the room take shape.
